Simple Looper

First, you need to have Max/MSP Installed. Google "Cycling74", go directly to downloads. Mac or PC? Now install it. Okay, now you're ready to read my patch.

Right-click this link to download the current simple looper patch. Right click and Select Save As or Save Target As. Mac users hold down a key modifier to access the right mouse click. That's alt ctl or fn, I don't know which. While you're saving it, make sure you don't accidentally save is with some other extension. This can happen if you download my patch before you install MAX5 Runtime. Just rename whatever file you saved as blahblahblah.maxpat If you save it with the extension blahblahblah.maxpat.txt you will end up opening the file in a text editor every time you double click it, and MAX5 also won't open it. So make sure the extension is .maxpat

EVI

Right-click this link to download the current EVI Package. Right click and Select Save As or Save Target As. Mac users hold down a key modifier to access the right mouse click. That's alt ctl or fn, I don't know which. It might also work to just click on it. This is a compressed file, so you must un-rar it before you can read the files with MAX/MSP. I have included a modified version of X.fm (an addative synthesizer) as well as some presets of mine. Use the Preset area of the synth to store and recall sounds that you find.

The EVI now operates as a 24 partial, 4 valve brass instrument. It can be controlled using a QWERTY keyboard, or a MIDI keyboard. The valve direction can be inverted and the fundamental length of the "horn" can be set to Tuba Trombone or Trumpet. This description updated in 1/11.

EVIandXfm.rar (73kb)

Here is a you tube demo of the EVI. It shows how the instrument is operated, and demonstrates the arpeggiator, looping, and improvising with the EVI.
